Lions 105EA Weekly News 8th April 2018

From DG Lion Derek Prior
For those going to MD Convention in Basingstoke.
There is a Friday night fancy dress competition, just for fun.
The subject is “Around the World” and it is suggested that Districts get together to decide if they will take part, and what their costumes should be.
This is purely optional, with the dress code otherwise being smart casual.
If you wish to be part of the EA group and have any ideas, please let me know.
Derek Prior
District Governor MD105EA 2018 – 18

From Convention Host Chairman – Lion Sue Hibbert
Fellow Lions,
At Convention I said that I’d be emailing you about your preferences for the Friday night of the 40th Ruby Celebration of EAs Convention in 2019. Our team would love to know what kind of host night you’d prefer so that there will be more of us there to join in the fun. So is it to be :

  1. Traditional host night – we suggest Caribbean night – cocktails, hula & limbo fun, Caribbean music – we have plenty of fun ideas already planned – and inflatable palm trees from last time !
  2. A cheaper alternative host night – Game show night hosted by us – Name that tune, Generation Game etc
  3. Organise your own night, sit and natter in the bar

Please discuss this with your Clubs and email me by the end of this month. Or simply email it out to them and they can reply to me. We need to get on and book and organise a great party  – especially if you’re going to choose option 1.
Thanks   Sue & the Team

With the permission of the DG
PDG Lion Jim and Jennifer are off on another of our Fundraising jaunts in the Royal Mail Van and will travel to Ireland on 11April, returning on 26 April.
Following the success of our previous two trips which took us from Wymondham to John O Groats to Lands End and back to Wymondham (JOGLE) in 2016,
raising £4500 for EACH and then in 2017 we headed East to West (E2W) from Lowestoft Ness to St Davids Head, raising £1040 for Chapel Road School in anticipation of the School move to new premises, we needed to complete the Trilogy with a JIGGLE.
We have a route planned which will take us anti-clockwise around Ireland from Dublin to Dublin, PLUS our challenge from District Governor Derek is to visit all 32 counties!
So here goes to raise some much needed funds for Chapel Green School in Old Buckenham (prev. Chapel Road School, Attleborough).
It is a beautiful new school purpose built to cope with all the special needs of the pupils. A leaflet is attached which describes the facilities well.
The school has been open since January 2018 is short of a lot of equipment so we are hoping, with the help of our friends to be able to support them with a nice donation.
Our thanks to DG who suggested, as it was for such a good cause, we should publicise our trip on the Weekly News, and ask for sponsorship.
Any donation, large or small, can be made payable to Chapel Green School and sent to Lion Jim Cawte at 43 Sycamore Ave., WYMONDHAM, Norfolk NR18 0HF
