From DG Nigel
DG Nigel’s invite to join him for a swimathon
DG Nigel is in training to do a Swimathon on the 7th April at 9am at the Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre. This annual event is the Worlds biggest fundraising swim, in support of Marie Curie. He is doing 1.5 k , so if we could get a team from EA called the Sea Lions, that would be great . You could also do this in your local pool. Further details on swimathon.org DG Nigel
Appeal from the Convention Team
The time is getting close for our 2017 District Convention which means it is time to dust off your photos from 2016/17 and look out ones that show your club doing something different or your members doing something crazy.
It would be nice to have a contribution from every club in the District but we need to create a varied presentation so the scope for photos of line-ups will be limited.
However, we are especially looking for photographs of your members involved in Centennial related activities especially where they show the Centennial logo.
Please send your photos, preferably in JPEG/JPG format, to me at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible so we can include you in this year’s Review of the Year. Don’t forget to include a brief description of each photograph.
From District Sergeant at Arms TIME TO GET YOUR CENTENNIAL POLO SHIRT
Next weekend is the Cabinet Meeting and District Meeting in Norwich so why not collect yours then. If you are not attending then save time at Convention by pre-ordering your Centennial Polo Shirts by e-mailing your size requirements to email@example.com. Then all you have to do on the day is ask for your order and pay.
Another reason for pre-ordering is we need to have some idea of how much stock to take to Peterborough as we would not like to have to disappoint anyone.
The Centennial shirts cost £12 for sizes Small to Ex-Large with the 2XL being £13.25.
There will be a stand for the shirts on the Saturday of Convention.
Orders can, of course, be sent by post but the charge for postage and packing is unfortunately £3 per shirt.

From Lion Dave Parker – District Competitions Officer
Can all competition winners please return there trophy’s making sure they are engraved,
I am sure if you ask your Zone Chairman or a Cabinet officer they will bring them to cabinet on the 5th February please. These can then be handed to VDG Derek Prior who will then pass them on to me.
First of all, Congratulations to all the winners of their Heats.
The Final is to be held on Saturday 11th February at the Holiday Inn Ipswich (the one where Cabinet is normally Held). The Quiz will start at 14.00 prompt and hopefully should be completed the latest by 4.30pm. We will then have a short presentation ceremony to present the Winners with the Trophy.
Could I ask that Zone Chair, that have not already done so, to advise the Winners of the following Zones. These are 1A, 3A, 3B,4B & 6A
Could I also ask that winning teams advise Numbers In their team + any supporters so I can get some Idea of how many will be there. This is because we have to pay a small Fee for Coffees or Teas (there will be food available from the Bar) the cost per person is £3.00.
Please note below the traffic information for people using the A12 to get to Ipswich.
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR THOSE WHO LIVE IN ESSEX
On 11th and 12th February, the A12 will be closed at Kelvedon and the signed diversion takes you on a long detour from Chelmsford to Braintree and down the A120 back to Colchester. If affected then try to avoid the A12 totally or you could be severely delayed.
This closure also affects two other weekends
Travelling Lion / Lioness / Leos
Would all Participants please note that all entries must be received by the Competitions officer no later than 28 FEB 2017 and the results will be announced at MD105EA Convention
A reminder to all clubs attending convention, to bring their scrapbooks, to be judged on Saturday morning at Convention.
