Convention 2017 : IS RAPIDLY APPROACHING!!
May I take this opportunity to wish my fellow Lions and Lionesses a truly Happy New Year and hope that all your Christmas activities and festivities were both enjoyable and successful.
However, now that the festive season is behind us, can I urge those of you who have not already booked for our Centennial Convention [16th – 19th March 2017] to do so as soon as possible. There are a limited number of rooms still available for Friday and/or Saturday night and we will be meeting with the hotel shortly to determine whether to release any back to them. SO PLEASE BOOK NOW AND DON’T BE DISAPPOINTED! We will not be in a position to book alternative hotel accommodation once rooms have been released. Remember that you still need to book even if you are only able to attend the Business Meeting as we need to know numbers for seating and printing of packs.
Don’t forget that host night on the Friday, as it is St Patrick’s Day, will have an Irish theme throughout the evening with awards for the best ‘Irish’ fancy dress and a separate award for the Club that makes the most impressive IMPACT [however you wish to interpret that] on their entrance to the evening.
Zone 1B are working extremely hard to make sure that our Centennial Convention is truly memorable for all the right reasons so come and join us.
This is the link to the booking form:

District Quiz
“Fellow Lions Our District Quizmaster has issued this Years’ Heat Questions to all Zone Chairman, and I would ask they organise their Zone Heats A.S.A.P.
If All clubs can try and participate this would result in 12 teams taking part in the Final which represents 1 winner from each Zone.
I would love to see all Zones represented at the Final, which this Lionistic Year is to be held at the Holiday Inn Ipswich (the one where cabinet is held) on Saturday the 11th February 2017 from 14:00 till approx. 16:30
Remember it’s not about the winning it’s about participating and having fun and fellowship, so Good luck to all and I look forward to seeing 12 teams representing all Zones at the Final”
So far I have been notified of the finalists from the following zones 1B, 5A & 5B if the remaining Zone Chair could notify me of the winners of their heats once they have been held, This will give me some idea of numbers to advise the Hotel.

Don Peech Golf Competition
“Fellow Lions I would ask ALL Presidents or Secretaries in our District to pass on to ALL Lions Members Interested
This is for all golfing Lions in our District;
As many of you are aware we have in the past organised the Don Peech Golf Competition on the Friday of our convention weekend, and it was felt this restricted numbers
a) to those who attended the convention, and b) was dependant on the weather and amount of light available for that time of year.
In answer to this I have now arranged a Golf day to be held on Wednesday 17th May 2017 the venue will be Ufford Park Woodbridge and is open to all Golf enthusiasts in our District.
The Address is Ufford Park, Yarmouth road, Melton, Woodbridge, Suffolk. IP12 1QW
I have reserved the 1st Tee from 12.00 until 14.00 so far until I can clarify numbers when we can tailor it a bit more.
I have agreed the best package with the golf club as the Classic Golf Package which includes: coffee & bacon rolls, 18 holes of golf and a one course lunch.
The itinerary recommended would be:
From 11.30 – Coffee and Bacon Rolls
From 12.00 – 18 Holes of Golf from 1st Tee  (individual Stableford Full Handicap)
From 17.30-18.00 – One Course Lunch, served in the Sports Bar Area with Presentation of the Cup and Prizes for Longest Drive and Nearest the Pin
Nearer the Time I will notify those who wish to take part of the menu and Tee off times etc.
To cover the cost of the Golf Day and Prizes I propose a Cost of £39pp with any excess funds being donated to one of the centennial projects probably the Hearing Dogs.
If those interested could please make cheques payable to LCI District 105EA and mark on the back golf competition, and then send them to me.
If the sender could also enclose with the cheque His or Her Club with First & Last names of the participant.
If paying direct into bank, please ensure they e-mail to let both the District Treasurer and me know, also advising the Club and Name as Above.
Bank Details:- Sort code 55-50-28 Account number 94584338 Account – LCI District Admin   Please mark ref Golf Day”
Thanks
Best Regards
