Lions 105EA Weekly News 25th February 2018

From District Governor Lion Derek Prior
Calling all Norfolk Clubs
Zone Chairman Arthur Bailey has organised a Roadshow at Norwich Forum on Saturday 24th March, to help your club, and Lions in EA, find new members. This event will enable us to speak to members of the public from all over Norfolk and beyond. Arthur has already taken care of thinking up the idea, getting all the relevant permissions and arranging some helpers.
All your club has to do is agree to support it with £10 and a helper or two.
Each Norfolk Club has been requested to contribute £10 to the £100 cost of running this event. Please  send cheques made payable to Sheringham &Cromer Lions Club to Lion Brian Harris, the Club Secretary of Sheringham &Cromer Lions and advise that it is for the Forum event.
We also need members to assist with this event between 9am and 5pm. Please contact me on to arrange which members of your club can help and what time they are available.
Arthur has shown real commitment to increasing our membership, so let’s get behind this initiative.
District Governor Derek Prior

Dear all
Please find the attached information recently received from the LCIF team regarding the LCIF Measles initiative.
Thank you for your continued support of LCIF Projects.
Lion David Pope
LCIF Officer for District 105EA.

Dear Hardworking Lions Team,
Firstly, many thanks your significant contribution and dedication towards the measles campaign. LCIF made its final disbursement to GAVI, the vaccine alliance, fulfilling our US $30 million pledge. The projected impact of the LCIF financial support and the GAVI matching funds that the support has unlocked is projected to be 87.7 million children immunized, 97.8 million doses of measles or MR vaccine procured, and 61,000 future deaths averted.
LCIF and GAVI are discussing continuing the partnership post 2017. Current discussions center on how Lions and GAVI can partner to increase the coverage of the second dose of measles vaccinations given to children via the routine immunization system. The focus of a continued partnership (phase 2) would be leveraging the strength of Lions at the country level to increase coverage and equity in a select number of countries per year, as well as social mobilization activities in support of measles and MD vaccination campaigns. Phase 2 of the partnership would also continue the coordination and collaboration on measles and MR campaigns in countries where Lions are present, as well as the advocacy work both at the country level toward strengthening systems and making them sustainable. Potential phase 2 involvement includes India and several countries in Africa.
LCIF will continue to raise and accept donations for LCIF’s measles and rubella projects.
Together, we have connected the world’s children to lifesaving vaccines. Thank to your hard work and dedication.
